Work 2 Play

The Franshoek Polo School recently added a Work to Play Program. This program is intended for those who wish to add value to their holiday by contributing to ecological ventures on our working farm, thereby earning the chance to utilize our polo ponies at low cost. A charge of 250 pounds / $350 per month will be levied to cover basic expenses and accommodation. Enrollees will then be asked to contribute 20 hours of service a week to earn the right to play polo. Typical jobs may include removing alien invasive plants from the farm, maintaining the hiking trail and or polo field, painting, horse care and exercise or other animal husbandry activities. 5 hours a week (every Friday) may be served at Franshoek Mountain Lodge in exchange for a Lodge weekend meal. Players work schedule will be from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm every day, allowing them the opportunity to tack up and ride every afternoon. Club chukkas will be played on the weekends and every day when paying clients are booked into the polo school. A player can count on playing a minimum of 32 chukkas per month in this program, with the potential of many more. The accommodation is a solar powered self-catering wood cottage which sleeps four. It includes a small kitchen, gas hot water heater, deck and braai (barbeque) area. Enrollees will be responsible for feeding themselves Sunday-Thursday and will be provided for every Friday and Saturday. To qualify for the program, applicants must be 18 years of age. Only applicants of the same sex will be accepted in the same months. Please contact Tracey at tracey@poloschool.co.za for further information, or to sign up.
